8 WEEK SPLASH WORKSHOP ASSIGNMENT FOUR
DROPPING A PRODUCT INTO LIQUID TO GET A SPLASH BACK TO SPLASH HOME8 WEEK SPLASH CLASS FOUR:
DROPPiNG A PRODUCT INTO LIQUID TO GET A SPLASH
Well, this is pretty self-explanatory. We are going to drop something into a liquid of some kind to catch the splash it makes.
LIQUIDS CAN INCLUDE:
PAINT
WATER
BEER
WINE
SPIRITS
POLISH
ANYTHING THAT IS LIQUID
You have two options:
- Dropping something into a glass or cup with liquid in it
(Examples: strawberries into wine, ice cubes into liquid, product into a container of liquid.)
We need to see the splash outside of the liquid – in other words, the splash is going up or out from the product. - Dropping something into a pan of water to have a splash at the base of the product.
(Examples: dropping a shampoo bottle into a pan of 1″ water, or strawberries into shallow water for a bounce and splash.)
The splash (and possible bounce) should be coming from the surface of the set. This is not inverted splashing.

TIMING WILL BE CRUCIAL
Getting the splash in full ‘bloom’ so to speak, will be a very difficult thing to do. You will have to practice a few times to get the timing just right. If you are using something super messy like paint or milk or cream, try your practice shots with water so you can get the timing down without making a giant stinking mess.
