I had a blast in Houston and thought I would share some images from the workshop. These are some of the great photographers we spent time with there.

We used Charles Howard’s great little studio in a suburb south of the city. His studio has a full cyc and cove, and is such a comfortable place to work. Thanks, Charles… you were a wonderful host.

This is a short post to share some of the images the attendees made. Special notice to the fact that we never left the little industrial complex… and that provided an opportunity to create images that were cool within a place that was rather pedestrian and banal.

To be able to make photographs under difficult situations was something that everyone was interested in. The weather played its part in providing some, uh, challenges, and the students responded with wonderful creativity.

Hanging with my bud Charles is always fun. And his taste in great BBQ does not go without mention… dude… that was a great place!!!

A few links from around the nets…

A Photo Editor has a great post on pricing for product photography.
Bruce DeBoer reminds us of an older presentation at TED and how it may be a very important message for photographers. Nice looking back from where we are to some questions asked only five years ago.
Rodney Smith beautifully captures the emotional feeling of spaces in this post at “The End Starts Here.”
“Write to Done” has an interesting article for those of you who are Facebook and Twitter afficianados.
If you are working toward getting better at writing (God knows I am), this post is pretty darn good. BTW… the message is to practice the good stuff to become better… practicing being crappy just reinforces being, well… crappy. Ya know… At “Men with Pens.”
Photographer Mark Tucker shares some wonderful print making techniques.
This post on images being more interesting than ‘good’ really struck a chord with me. Yes, Mr. Loengard, yes. At Scott Kelby’s blog. An important post by an important photography critic and author.

I am returning home from Raleigh, NC this morning. What a wonderful time here. Met some amazing people, made some friends, hopefully helped some to find their voice and reinforced my love of working with people eager to learn.

More on the Raleigh workshop later this week.

Mac Cooper’s behind the scenes images:

Mac caught some fun images of what we were doing as well as the product shot we created.

Oke Atatah’s images:

Oke’s blog is here.
Oke had a blast and is moving forward on his desire to go professional at some point soon.

O-Dark-Thirty is still a good time to shoot.

Yes… we wring the last few moments of light out of each day… that is what hi-iso is for, right?

Calvin Middleton’s Images:

Calvin is shooting fashion and music in Dallas.

Josh Brewster’s images:

Josh is a commercial photographer in Austin.

Karissa Hosek’s images:
Karissa’s blog post about the workshop is here.

And here is the shot of me as a stand-in from Alfredo (who came all the way up from Mexico for the workshop). Thanks Alfredo, not sure I will ever be that cool.

Thanks everyone.
