A discussion with Ed Z, Philadelphia Photographer
You can visit his website at EdZStudios.com. We are working on creating his print portfolio in this discussion. I will have done a preliminary edit before we get into the final work on Sunday evening. It will be available on this page as a YouTube Sunday morning.

You must “sign in” or create an account to be engaged with questions. Once logged in, click the “Ask a Question” button to deliver the question to us. There is a running “chat” available as well, but it goes by pretty fast.
The YouTube Movie below will stay on the site and will be available on Sunday morning. You may want to view it before we get going on the edit. Here are the videos for the initial edit. They will explain some things we did before the talk this evening. There will be three videos here soon.
I hope you join us with questions and insights into the editing process.

Glad you dropped by. This is my love and my muse. We talk about photography here, as well as the folks who make images. I am very focused on commercial and fine art photography, and we don't really spend all that much time on weddings and such. I have written 5 books - two I give away here, and two are for sale at Amazon, and the 5th one is being edited and designed right now! Thanks for visiting, leave a comment or join me the social networks...
It’s 5:15 pm CST on Sunday and the YouTube pre-edit movie still seems to be AWOL… or am I just missing something?
Very informative stuff, Don.
I like how you walked us through the selection process. This is similar to the process you posted about more than a year ago ( I think) to help us identify photos that really attract us and inspire us…… except that exersize used magazine photos.
The quick ” first selection” is the most difficult for me. I tend to study them too long, instead of making the quick decision and choose what grabs me right off.
Thanks.
Occasionally I will go back and double check the firs selection. I do them so fast.
I have yet to have a ‘no’ ever make it to the final selection. Once in a while there will be one that will make me overthink it.. and I put it in the group two… but it never makes it out of group two.
Images need to dazzle, inspire, cajole, shout, whisper, grab, entice and astound at first glance. Most of the time.
There are some art photographs that more or less ‘reveal’ themselves to the viewer.
But in commercial, that is usually NOT the way it is done.
At least in my opinion.
Great informative stuff. Honest and gooD
