Gallery Tools on Lighting-Essentials.com

There are a ton of very cool gallery tools that photographers can use to create portfolios, galleries, exhibits, or “just-for-fun” shows for clients and friends. If I have missed a favorite of yours, send me an email and I will add it.

Here we look at some of the ones we like a lot, and you can maybe find one or two that will work for you. In all cases they are free or nearly free. I am not posting any solutions over $50. They are in no particular order, so don’t look for any.

This is a legacy article. Clicking on Home will bring you back to the home page.

One of the things that has become important to me in a gallery is the search engine ‘friendliness’ — I have recently gone full circle back to jalbum becasue it doesn’t rely heavily on javascript and uses the image names for the html pages. All of a sudden, I’m #4 on google for “Baked Bruschetta”, #1 for “Beautiful Tiana” and other probably not so useful to me searches — but the point is valid.
For a while, I relied on the more advanced galleries for ease of use such as drag and drop gallery changes, but noticed my search results plummeting. Went back to jalbum and they’ve started climbing again…

Add a blog and a calendar, get some inbound links…. and you’ll be beating the clients off with a stick….

Absolutely. I totally agree. Interestingly though, I get photographers who tell me they do not want their images to be found on Google. They are adament. They are absolutely terrified by the thought that someone will ‘rip them off’.

Do I disagree. Totally. I simply don’t build their sites. I want to build sites for photographers who want to increase their business and find new channels for their work. Those who want to commit online seclusionism have plenty of other sources for which to do it.

The above list is just that. It is not an endorsement of any of them and all can be used with great success if used smartly and with syncronicity with other marketing tools.

Workshops Offered

We always have fun in this seminar, and we make sure that the learning experience is deep. Many photographers have stated that they learned more about photography in this workshop than in several years of working on their own.

Every participant will get a copy of my recently released DVD titled "Lighting Essentials 1 - How to create professional lighting for under $100." If you would like to know more about the workshop. please feel free to call me anytime to discuss. Visit the workshop page for more information about the workshops.
