There are a ton of very cool gallery tools that
photographers can use to create portfolios, galleries, exhibits,
or "just-for-fun" shows for clients and friends. If I
have missed a favorite of yours, send me an email and I will add
it.
Here we look at some of the ones we like a lot,
and you can maybe find one or two that will work for you. In all
cases they are free or nearly free. I am not posting any solutions
over $50. They are in no particular order, so don't look for any.

Fun, that's what this little guy is. And it is so
easy to use anyone can do it. You drag and drop your images, sort
them on the screen, and publish your gallery. You can even download
a free app that lets you make them and use them on your site, blog

The shows and galleries created by this tool are
as diverse as you can create. Music, captions... everything you
need. Of course it is a bit heavier than most here in specs and
requirements. The tool is a Flash Extension, so you must have Flash
to create. Documentation is clear and concise and even Flash neophytes
should have no problem setting up a simple show.
Cool Factor: Director.
This additional software allows the photographer to maintain and
build galleries anytime they want.

This is one of the easiest tools I can imagine for
a photographer to use to create slideshows. The tool gets the most
use from Photojournalists who combine images, text, sound and music

and PC versions. After you create the show, you simply upload the
folder it created to your server.

If you are an Adobe Lightroom user, check these
out. Looks like you simply copy into a folder and then choose them
from the drop down when making a gallery. I think you will need
to know some CSS / XML as well, but not sure as I do not at this
point use Lightroom. May in the future though.

photofolio
PHP combined with Flash makes photofolio very
powerful and flexible. You will have to be able to understand how
to modify the Flash to customize it, and you will be editing some
text files at the code level. This is one of the more complex shown

hire a coder to implement this fairly easy, then take over and
maintain it.
