It’s about time for the last workshop of the year for me: Anna Maria Island, Florida (Northern tip of South Tampa Bay) and I am so excited about going. I will be working on the final parts of the book, teaching a three day workshop and hanging with some great photography buds who come down to join me each year. Sort of a Photo-work-cation sorta thing. BTW… as of this writing I just had a cancellation so if you are thinking you missed it, we have one more space open. Stay in Bradenton or Sarasota for easy access.

Next year’s workshops are being refined, there is some new tool additions, a few new lighting approaches and a more structured two day approach. The workbook is finished, illustrations are in, and it will be finalized as soon as the illustrations are finished. The workbook will be available in final form for all attendees future and past on the first of the year (2011). Check your member sites for more information.

On the book front: I have had several setbacks, but all clear ahead for finishing it and off to the publisher by mid next week. Only a few weeks behind schedule. I will blog about the book and the problems I had as soon as the book is off to the publisher. Hoping for not too much re-write… heh.

Raleigh was a blast. I had never been there, but I will be going back. I love the hospitality of the south and the warm people who inhabit that great area. We ended up using Brian Mullins’ Studio in downtown Apex, NC – just 15 minutes from my airport hotel. Apex is a wonderful little suburb that has seen a renaissance in the downtown district. Thanks so much, Brian.

We met a little earlier than usual due to the sun going down so darn early, and we shot till after dark both days. Yes, we wring all the light we can out of every day.

Special thanks to Steve Jackle, Brian and Brian’s great assistant, Jenn, for all they did to make the workshop great. I really appreciate all you guys did.

After the jump are some images from the participants. We shot inside and out and did all kinds of lighting from natural to blended strobes and daylight to full strobe. Light is light, and they learned some tricks to keep them going even if the world around them isn’t lit too well.

Here’s my shot from the weekend. I got in a mini-road trip.

Now on to the images made by the attendees:

Thanks to all of you wonderful Raleigh participants. You made me feel right at home there.
