Don.... Wow! prolly the most valuable piece of information I have ready in a while. I have been challenged in this area for some time now. Want to take that next step I fill this bit of information will transport me there. I will come back a ready this several more time so I can infuse this to memory. I believe the best nugget I am taking to day is.... "If you don’t value your work, no one else will"

I am making that my motto right now...

Thanks for this article.
I\'m not a pro photographer and I doubt I ever will be, but so many of the points you raise are valid from my experiences in being self-employed in my own field for several years.
#6 is a real stinker and one that took me ages to deal with effectively. I eventually just told them straight how much extra it would be and usually they didn\'t bother going ahead with the extras, proving to me that they were likely chisellers. It\'s surprising how many customers think that, because they\'re giving you work, you should do a bit extra (sometimes a lot extra) for nothing.

wizwow, great stuff. I have recently started to get my photography business off the ground, and have found it to be a little challenging. I''m not quite charging what I really want to just yet, but I think that takes time. I haven't started to generate the amount of leads yet that I really want to to have my business really take off. I feel like i'm spending a lot of time on the business side and not so much on the photography side, and that's ok for now, but I really want to get things into gear. Soon.
Thanks.

Absolutely... it is a great read. I follow his blog as well. Lots of things for photographer to consider. I am working on a post of books that aren't about photography that every photographer should read and it is DEFINITELY on that list.

Thanks to you, and everyone for dropping by and leaving a comment.

Another GREAT read Don! Many thanks

I would recommend \"The Four Hour WorkWeek\" as a must read. Not that the overall principle can be applied to pro-photography, but there are some GEMs of business optimization in there.
